The Recording Studio
Demo Recording, December 2007-January 2008
AUGUST went into the studio and recorded our first CD "demo" in December of 2007.
The 7-song set was recorded at Brick Audio Studios in Campton Township/Wasco, IL.
Sound engineer, Bill Beith, worked with the band to provide everyone with a
taste of AUGUST's music,
which was
posted on the website from January, 2008 through March 2010.
This recording
was never intended for public distribution.
It was a necessary recording to help the band in performance booking dates.
About the Recording: The recording was done "live" in the studio, meaning that each track was performed
by the entire band as
you hear it. With the exception of vocals and solos, there were no "overdubs".
All songs were recorded in three takes or less. Main vocals
and solos were added later because of studio limitations.
AUGUST
CD Recording 2009-2010
In December,
2009, AUGUST returned to the studio to make the “record” that was originally scheduled to be done in
1975. The band was invited to record at World Stage Studios in Burr Ridge, IL, at the suggestion of friend
and Ides of March keyboardist, Scott May. AUGUST was extremely fortunate to have at the
console Larry Millas, who also is producing the CD with members of AUGUST. Larry has produced numerous
television and radio commercials in addition to many hit songs and albums, most notably the multi-million selling gold record
from the "Rocky" movies, “Eye of the Tiger”. Joining AUGUST on the song, "Run
Back to Mama", is the composer and original guitarist and vocalist, Jim Peterik, who also wrote "Eye of the
Tiger".
The multi-session recording process was completed in late February, 2010. Mixing and mastering
were completed on July 12, 2010, and the CD, Second Time Around, was released, when else, August
27, 2010.
Due to the CD release, the decision was made to remove the 2+ year old demo samples from the band’s
website. Sound bites from the new recording will be made available after the release of the new CD, AUGUST.
